Abstract
The Life Science Industry continues to be a strong robust sector for
investment, business and technology professionals. 2003 was the year
Life
Science awoke from its slumber. IPO activity increased significantly
from
previous years. According to the National Venture Capital Association,
2003
investments in US medical device and biotechnology companies were $1.5
billion and $3.3 billion respectively.
2004 continues the investment trend. Life Science companies are riding
the
wave and are seeking IPOs and acquisition opportunities. Recent
activities
such as the sale of Novacept to Cytyc, and completion of Anadys
Pharmaceuticals initial public offering are examples of a growing
investment
trend.
Our speaker panel of founder, executive management, and venture
capitalist
will give us their perspective on 2004 funding trends and growth
challenges.
