September 9, 200611:00 AM » 11th Annual Persian Harvest FestivalTHOUSANDS EXPECTED AT THE PERSIAN HARVEST FESTIVAL IN ORANGE COUNTY, CA September 9th-10th 2006 IRVINE, CA – July 1, 2006– the Network of Iranian-American Professionals of Orange County (NIPOC) on behalf of the Southern California based Persian Community announces the 11th Annual Persian Harvest Festival of Autumn (Mehregan) on Orange County Fair & Exposition Center, 88 Fair Drive Costa Mesa, CA 92626 On the 10 years anniversary, this two-day event will attract more attendees this year. Many national, state, and local community and political leaders are expected at the festival. Mehregan (pronounced ‘meh-re-gahn’), is a celebration of nature honoring the ancient Persian Goddess Mehr, the spirit of love, knowledge and commitment. This two-day outdoor family event celebrating nature and the seasons, is a showcase of many aspects of Persian culture from exhibits, art, pop and traditional music, folk dance, crafts, ancient sports, live performances, movies, children's activities and exotic food. Held at the Orange County Fair & Exposition in Costa Mesa, this event grows more popular each year with thousands of visitors. Over 100 exhibitors sell everything from intricate Persian rugs, Authentic Persian Food to modern art. This festival is organized by the Persian Community Volunteers of Southern California as a nonprofit event. Hundreds of people in the county's large Persian community volunteer their time and talents to bring Orange County the sights, sounds and tastes of ancient Persia and modern Iran.
