The sarod is an instrument similar to the Persian robab. K. Sridhar is a sarod virtuoso who has the distinction of being the youngest member of Pandit Ravi Shankar's ensemble. Also he has crossed the divide between Northern and Southern Indian music, as well as collaborating with Persian, Arab, Jazz, Flamenco, and European Classical musicians.

He has made 11 recordings and

has composed numerous soundtracks for films

including the French film, Pondicherry: juste

avant l'oubli, which received the prestigious

Jean Vigo Award in 1988. Currently Sridhar is a

recording artist for Peter Gabriel's RealWorld

Records.In his latest recording for them, Arab

Path To India, Sridhar explores the profound

connection between Arabic and Indian musical

roots.
