The Search for the Star Musician of Iran is an international contest intended to promote Iranian musicians and the timeless music the country possesses. Since 1979, many Iranians have been dispersed throughout the world, and as a result, our country’s most proficient musicians have gone un-noticed.

For this reason, Star Musician of Iran has begun the search for the two most gifted Iranian musicians of today, one Instrumentalist and one Vocalist. For the first time in history, a contest will give Iranians the opportunity to discover the most talented Iranian musicians alive.
Hundreds of musicians from around the world will be sending their audition tapes before the May 31st, 2005 deadline. The top five Instrumentalists and top five Vocalists will then be invited to perform at the finals in September 2005 in Washington DC. These ten Finalists will compete live for cash prizes totaling $5,000. In addition, Star Musician of Iran will provide two nights of hotel accommodation for all Ten Finalists.

The contestants may perform with any musical instrument, however the instrumental and vocal performances are limited to Persian Traditional, Persian Classical, Persian Folklore and Persian Pop Music.

Eight of the most recognized and respected legends of Iranian music have been selected as Honorary Judges of the contest. The Judges include Mr. Attaollah Khorram, Mr. Hooshmand Aghili, Ms. Guity Adjoodani, Ms. Minoo Kashef, Dr. Hooshang Hodjati, Mr. Shahriar Saleh, Mr. Nader Majd, and Dr. Ali Analouei.

The Star Musician of Iran is organized by twenty-four year old Iman Huschmand who also organized and produced the First Miss Iran Pageant in Washington DC in 2004. Huschmand received his Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Maryland, University College.
