The path to raising self-reliant and responsible children - A talk given by: Dolat Bolandi, M.A.

Raising children in today's American culture can be very challenging. These challenges have many unique flavors for immigrant and/or bi-cultural families where parent(s) have grown up in very different cultures with different values.

This short talk in Persian will visit the different aspect of discipline with perspective in both cultures. The hope is to start a process in helping the parents develop tools in disciplining and guiding their children while teaching them values in loving and respectful ways.

Dolat Bolandi, M.A. has received her Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology with Marriage and Family therapy emphasis from Santa ClaraUniversity. Prior to this, she had work in the software industry for 10 years. She is registered with California Board of Behavioral Sciences as Marriage and Family therapy intern and provides psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families in private practice in Los Gatos under supervision of Arlene Auerbach, MA, MFT (lic. MFC 32275.) In addition, she provides psychotherapy to s! tudents at San JoseCityCollege.
As a parent and an immigrant she has first hand, personal knowledge of how difficult and challenging it is to raise children in today?s society. She has worked in the area of family violence for several years and has worked with the impact of violence and the parent-child relationships. This enables her to bring many different perspectives both personal and professional, into the area of parenting.
