DescriptionIranian students have achieved remarkable success in their graduate studies at American
universities and in particular Stanford University during the past few decades. Our
community has rarely come together to celebrate and recognize such accomplishments. It
is with pleasure and pride that SUTA is organizing an event in the honor of former and
present Iranian students specially those from Sharif University who completed their
studies at Stanford University.
The Northern California Chapter of SUTA proudly presents a recognition event
featuring talks by several professors including
Professor Bruce A. Wooley (professor and former chair of EE dept at Stanford)
Professor Thomas H. Lee (professor of EE dept at Stanford)
Dr. Mohsen Rahnama (former professor of Civil Eng. dept in Sharif)
who will speak to the success of Iranian students (and in particular Sharif graduates) at
Stanford and the Silicon Valley as well as the contributions of Stanford graduates to
Sharif University.
The program also involves recognizing several individuals with significant contributions as
well as musical performance by Sharif alumni currently Stanford students. The first
Sharif graduates who studied at Stanford (in 70’s) will be recognized in this event and
there will be surprises as well. Refreshment will be served after the program.
The event is open to the public. Due to the overwhelming response after our first announcement, the
venue has been changed to a large auditorium; however, we strongly recommend an early RSVP as the
remaining spaces are filled rapidly as well.
