    MEHREGAN - OCTOBER 2-3, 2004

    9th Annual Persian Harvest Festival of Autumn (Mehregan) is planned
    for October 2 – 3, 2004 at the Orange County Fair & Exposition
    Center.

    This festival is organized by the Persian Community Volunteers of
    Southern California as a non-profit event. Hundreds of people in the
    county's large Persian community volunteer their time and talents to
    bring Orange County the sights, sounds and tastes of ancient Persia
    and modern Iran.

    In order to bring the Nuclear Energy discussions into the public dialogue, Unity for a Democratic & Secular Republic in Iran (Ettehade Jomhourikhahan-e Iran (EJI)) presents:

    Speakers include:

    ? Gary Sick Professor of International Affairs, Columbia University. Acting Director, Middle East Institute. Professor Sick served on the National Security Council under Presidents Ford, Carter and Reagan.

    ? Farideh Farhi, Professor of Political Science at Hawaii University. Dr. Farhi is the author of States and Urban-Based Revolutions is Iran and Nicaragua (Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 1990).

    ? Mohsen Sazegara - a former Iranian deputy secretary of Budget and Planning, and manager of several major reformist newspapers.

    Ice-In-Heaven & BBQ

    Please do not forget about the Ice-In-Heaven's BBQ taking place on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004. This event was initiated by Hesaam Aslani, Stanford's Ph.d. candidate, and organized by a group of Stanford students and alumni, Iran Runners & Walkers, and respectable members of Iranian-American community in Bay Area. The purpose of this event is to bridge the gap and foster a new level of friendship between Iranians that have been in the States for more than 10 yrs. and those that have recently arrived.

    The BBQ starts at 11:00 am with live music, games and fun for the entire family. In addition, we will have a variety of Persian finger food and BBQ-style grills. So, bring down friends and family for a day of fun at the park.
