The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, national grassroots membership organization dedicated to bringing our community together to project an accurate and positive image of Iranian Americans that truly reflects our values and achievements, and to building a highly respected and influential voice for our community in the U.S. political process.
This event is intended to further introduce PAAIA to the Iranian American community in New York, New Jersey & Connecticut and to seek input on issues of importance to the community. You will also have the opportunity to meet members of PAAIA’s board of directors and management.

Iranian lawyer, writer, and teacher, Shirin Ebadi received the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2003 for her efforts to promote democracy and human rights, especially those of women and children in Iran. She was the first Muslim woman and the first Iranian to receive the award. She has become internationally known for her attempts to convince the world that Iran can be both a moderate democracy - a people whose leaders are fairly elected and responsible to the citizens - and a nation guided by Islamic values.
