Belly dancers of all levels and styles are invited to experience this captivating form of an ancient discipline. Danielle Davies and Dance Conmigo welcome renown dance artist Audra Simmons to Montreal for this special 4-hour tribal fusion workshop Saturday, January 24th, from 1-5pm at Studio Metronome.

As founder and artistic director of Toronto's The Dark Side Studio and Lavish Dance Company, Audra is Toronto's foremost practitioner of the art. First timers and professionals alike will find inspiration in her teaching of this modern style of belly dance which is sometimes referred to as "the darker side of cabaret".

December Zanan gathering on storytelling with Shahrnush Parsipur was received very well. It was suggested to have a follow up meeting on writing. Fortunately, a dear friend, Shirindokht Nourmanesh has kindly acceptd my invitation. A fiction writer and a poet, Shirindokht' s first collection of short stories and novellas (Domal) was published in the US and a number of her translations and stories have appeared in print and online journals. She has one manuscript ready for publication and is at work on a collection of poems. Shirindokht is a member of the Association of Iranian-American Writers (AIAW) and writes both in Persian and English. Shirindokht will start the meeting by reading some of her poems and stories. Then it will be everybody else's turn to share. So, please bring your writings, including stories and poetries. Unless specified otherwise, Zanan meeting are for women only.
