Some details:
Planned Fundamental Changes to SIP - After twenty six years, the
time has come to make major fundamental changes to the SIP.
Building upon initiations by previous Boards, the current SIP Board
formed a Working Group which has been actively pursuing these
goals. Among other accomplishments, this Group has formulated new
and updated bylaws.
These pivotal bylaws not only allow for the merging of the Board
members and Officers into one cohesive governing body, but also pave
the way for the SIP to become a non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c) (3)
compliant organization under the previously approved name Society of
Iranian-American Professionals (SIAP).
We invite you to join us in the upcoming SIP Special Meeting, where
we will present a progress report on these modifications, as well as
the SIP Annual Report to Members.

Zarbang & Banafsheh Sayyad's Namah: "Mirror" in Chicago, Oct 17
Chicago Friday - October 17, 2008 08:00 PM
Zarbang join Banafsheh Sayyad and Namah Dance Ensemble in presenting "Mirror" at Columbia College's Dance Center in Chicago.
At the intersection of art and spirituality comes an evening of wild and whirling dance, ground-breaking drums and Rumi's evocative poetry. This is a well-established collection of masters, seasoned from years together, all at the top of their game. Mirror features the long-favoured Sufi dance innovator Banafsheh, her dance company NAMAH and music from the world renowned ZARBANG.
Mirror revolves around Banafsheh's residency at the Dance Center at Columbia College in Chicago. Merging contemporary dance with ancient Sufi ritual, Persian dance, Tai Chi and Flamenco, Banafsheh's choreography takes the audience on a journey into the mysteries of being alive and living from the heart, accompanied by ZARBANG's hypnotic wall of sound.
Mirror reflects our common human experience where, we don't see ourselves as we really are, in the full glory and majesty that lies beyond self-interested egoism, which is wreaking havoc in our world today.
NAMAH: Kelly Archbold, Bahareh Ebrahimzadeh & Banafsheh Sayyad
ZARBANG: Javid Afsari Rad, Pejman Hadadi, Behnam Samani & Reza Samani
