01:00 PM » Iranican's 2nd Annual Bone Marrow Drive

Marrow Flier

This years event is being held to support thousands of people in need of bone marrow transplants. We would like to strongly encourage you to give this matter some thought as we are doing this drive in honor of a young Iranian man who has been told he needs a transplant and unfortunately his family are not a match. Perhaps it is you, your neighbor, co-worker or friend. Please tell all of your loved ones about this drive as I’m sure this family and thousands of other families will appreciate it. Testing is simple, in the sense that there is no blood work involved, they will only need to swab your cheek. You will then be placed on the donor registry and will contacted if you match a patient in need. For more information on this process please visit the National Marrow Donor Program website, www.marrow.org. For those of you who are not located in the bay area but would like to be on the donor registry, please visit the website and find out how to get the swab kit mailed to you or find a local drive. To help our friend in need, email your Marrow Registry ID # to marrow@iranican.com
Thank you,
Behnoush Babzani
Community Service Director, Iranican

01:00 PM » Iranican Bone Marrow Drive

Dear all,

A few friends of mine are doing a bone marrow drive in a couple weeks in order to get donor registration amongst Iranians. The reason behind this is because to help victims of bone marrow cancer the necessary donor must either be a relative or be of the same ethnic background. In the past few weeks I have personally received news that there are 4 Iranian children (between the ages of 16-22) who are afflicted with bone marrow cancer but are finding difficulty finding a donor match that would help them survive because not enough Iranians are signing up as National Marrow Donors.

The friends of mine, who call their organization Iranican, are doing a donor drive in two weeks specifically to resolve this problem. However, to do so, they need financial help and because they aren't a 501(c)(3), major philatropists aren't donating to them. I am asking each one of you to please donate $50-$100 to "Iranican, Inc" in order to be used for the bone marrow drive. This money will go directly into registering donors and will not be used for anything else. You can send those checks to me, either by mail (1916 Lyon Ave., Belmont, CA 94002) or hand it to me in person. I usually don't reach out like this for money, but to be honest one of my best friends was a victim of bone marrow cancer and was helped because of an Iranian donor. So please help out and email me if you have any questions.
Thank you all again,

Nema
