06:30 PM » Simin Behbahani Lecture at Stanford

s you remember, this year we were fortunate to receive the generous support of Ms. Bita Daryabari, who established the Daryabari Endowment for Persian Studies at Stanford University. Part of the Daryabari Endowment stipulates that each year, we give a prize to the person who, in the course of that year, has accomplished the most in poetry, prose, and other forms of art. The winner will be invited to Stanford where they will present a public lecture and receive a specially designed trophy along with a cash prize.

We are happy to announce that the first winner of the Bita Prize in Literature and Freedom will be Ms. Simin Behbahani the preeminent woman poet of Iran today. She will give her public lecture on March eleventh, at the Cubberley Auditorium. You are all cordially invited to join us for this historic night.

The event is free and open to the public but due to limited seating please RSVP to Pasang Sherpa at psherpa@stanford.edu , no later than February, 29th.

Abbas Milani
