    Iranian/Indian Music Collaborative Concert

    A Rare Iranian-Indian Collaborative Santur Concert:



    Tarun Bhattacharya, Indian Santur(Satatantri Veena)

    Roozbeh Nafisi, Iranian Santur

    Arup Chatterjee, Tabla



    Three virtuosi come together from around the world for

    this collaboration. A duet of santur, a universal

    hammer-dulcimer instrument, will be featured with

    tabla accompaniment. Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, a

    world-class musician of India plays with Roozbeh

    Nafisi, a young santur virtuoso from Iran, and Arup

    Chatterjee, an outstanding tabla artist who has

    accompanied the legendary Ravi Shankar. The styles and

    classical traditions of Indian music and Iranian music

    come together in this unique collaborative project.

    Elements of both rich cultures will be explored, their

    similarities discovered, and their differences worked

    to create a new musical language.

    road turns into Sutterville Road. Go over the bridge.

    Entrance to the college is on the right, just past the

    football stadium. The Little Theater (Room A6)

    entrance is just to the left of the front

    entrance of the Auditorium. There are maps of the

    campus here and there.



    The Sacramento performance is partially funded by a
