Internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer and pioneer in contemporary mystical Persian dance, Banafsheh Sayyad will perform, then present a guided session in Sufi turning. Both meditative and ecstatic, the performance serves as a gateway to the ancient tradition of turning, and Sayaad’s teaching techniques allow people of all experience levels to turn for a sustained period with ease. Come in comfortable clothing, and take part in this informal closing ceremony.
$15 for members, $20 for non-members.
Includes museum admission.

The Film Screening begins at 4PM and features the documentaries of two Iranian Filmmakers:
Maryam Kashani and her warm and amusing documentary BEST IN THE WEST
about displaced Iranian students who ended up in The Bay area back in the 1960's.
Jahanshah Ardalan and his film BEYOND WORDS
which is a fascinating look into the (until now) secret ways of Kurdish Sufis. Some scenes may be very graphic and disturbing to some.
The screening will be followed by a reception open to the public with purchase of a $5 raffle ticket.
