The Power of a Cliche: Representing Iranian Women
Virginia Thursday - July 19, 2007 07:00 PM
Salaam doostan-e aziz!
As you may have seen in the Washington Post recently, IAAB's Camp Ayandeh was a great success! Thanks for your support that helped to make the camp possible, and to all of you who sent messages of support to the campers on our camp blog. Also in the Post recently was IAAB's TRANSFORM/NATION: Contemporary Art of Iran and its Diaspora, which has opened successfully in both Washington, DC and Tehran to critical acclaim. The openings of the two simultaneous exhibitions drew more than 500 people and the show has been covered widely in the Washington Post, Northern Virginia Magazine, and WETA. The exhibitions, held concurrently at the Ellipse Arts Center in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and the Nikzad Gallery in Tehran, will run through August 4th. Please see IAAB's website for information on supplemental events in both locations.
In conjunction with the exhibition, IAAB is proud to present three multi-city events with Haleh Anvari, exhibiting writer/photographer from Iran. Information for these events is below -- we hope you will join us and look forward to seeing you in New York and Washington, D.C.!
