DUBistan: a live dub and electronica performance

by the members of the Som’ma Music Ensemble.

After a highly successful debut on the East Coast with shows in NYC, Washington DC and Brooklyn—and following a tour of the West Coast which included headlining in San Francisco and Los Angeles at the largest Persian festivals in the world, members of the Som’ma Dub Ensemble will offer a varied and truly multi-sensory evening of dubby Persian

and Middle Eastern music.

A dubbed-out spin-off collective of Som’ma, DUBistan was conceived in New York City’s Greenwich Village, and is based out of San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury District. DUBistan

was nurtured by both coasts’ world music and electronica scenes, and draws on the many world music excursions and sound journeys experienced by its gifted members.

The ensemble continues to perform traditional Persian and Middle Eastern music alongside live electronica and dub music. With an intelligence of spirit, DUBistan creates a space where ancient and modern music freely converse.
