From the dawn of human civilization numerous types andforms of organizations and governments have been tried, but none have been successful in bringing peace and tranquility
to the world. Peace and harmony, Dr. Naini maintains, is moredependent on each individual and his/her state of mind andattitude toward himself and others than any particular system.
A necessary precondition to attaining a peaceful and harmoniousworld is recognizing and understanding the reality and purposeof the human life journey. Dr. Naini will discuss Rumi's life
and teachings on universal peace and harmony and the humanendeavor. Rumi, a conservative, fundamentalist theologian, became a liberated, euphoric mystic poet who fervently fell in
love with the Divine Creator and the whole universe. Rumi, the best selling poet in the U.S. today, teaches us to appreciatethe majestic journey of life. He shows us that by understanding
ourselves we can become islands of peace and serenity in themidst of our turbulent and violent world. His life andtransformation provide true testimony and proof that people ofall religions and backgrounds can live together in peace andharmony throughout the world. At Rumi's funeral processionChristians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims cried andmourned. Rumi's visions, words, and life teach us how to reachinner peace and happiness so we can finally stop the continualstream of hostility and hatred and achieve true universalpeace and harmony.
