07:00 PM » Movie Trilogies @ The Persian Center

Subject: Movie Trilogies @ The Persian Center Wednesdays @ 7pm 2029 Durant Ave in Berkeley

ISAA & The Persian Center proudly present a mid-weekly escape from reality. Bring friends, eat popcorn, and explore vast worlds.

Films from different countries and genres. Obscure shorts and puzzling facts. Obsessive filmmakers with an agenda. Tied together in bundles of three, each with its own theme...

First Trilogy: Breakthrough Film by a Famous Director
March 10: Paths of Glory (directed by Stanley Kubrick)
Released in 1957, this is Kubrick’s fourth feature film. It stars Kirk Douglas as a French colonel in WWI, mixed up with some very dirty politics.
If you think Full Metal Jacket is an uncompromising war film, you might be surprised with what Kubrick was capable of 30 years prior. In fact, the film was banned in France for twenty years.

March 17: Close-Up (directed by Abbas Kiarostami)
March 31: Mean Streets (directed by Martin Scorsese)
Remember, the first screening will be March 10. Cancel your appointments and mark your calendars.
