What: Bike Ride from Fort Mason to Tiburon & Ferry Back

Who should come: Anyone who is interested in a fun outdoor activity.

Why: It's a beautiful ride with variety of attractions.

Meeting Description: This is a fun 22 mile ride through the Persidio and the redwoods across the Golden Gate on the ocean side. From the North end of the Bridge, there is a STEEP downhill to downtown Sausalito. We will stop in Sausalito to get some ice cream or coffee if people want. Then continue to Tiburon for lunch. We will picnic in Tiburon and catch the 4:20PM Ferry back to Fort Mason.
The ride is initially uphill with a big down hill and then some humps along the way.

ROUTE:
From the Fort Mason parking lot across from the Marina Safeway, we will ride along the Marina Green into the Persidio and up to the Golden Gate Bridge. From the Bridge, we will descend, swiftly, into Sausalito and stop at the Bay Model. We will then ride to Tiburon and break for lunch. We will then take the 4:20 Ferry back to Pier 41. Then we will ride along the water front and up and over the Fort Mason hill.
The total elevation change is about 800 ft.

DIFFICULTY:
Moderate. 20mi.

WHERE TO MEET:
Fort Mason parking lot across from the Marina Safeway.
We will leave pretty close to the time indicated. If you are late, please feel free to catch up with us.
If you need to rent a bike, there are bike rental shops around that area. Please give yourself enough time if you are renting a bike to get to the meeting location on time.

WHAT TO BRING:
Layers, lunch and Ferry money, and 2-3 liters of water. Bike Lock. Helmet!
