Tara Kamangar with Oakland East Bay Symphony
Dear Friends,
On March 14 in an unprecedented event, the Oakland East Bay Symphony
will dedicate the second half of its performance to classical music as
played in Iran in modern era:
The Iranian piano soloist Tara Kamangar will be coming from the Royal
Academy of Music in London to play symphonies from the Iranian composer
Aminollah Hossein as well as the Russian composer SergeiRachmaninoff,
as well as Loris Tjeknavorian'sSuite from the opera Rostam and
Sohrab. There is also a plan for a performance for an Iranian vocal
soloist to sing Persian music.
It is rare for a mainstream western symphony to recognize classical
music in Iran like this, so I hope you will join me in attending this
performance and show support for our very talented musicians of different
generations. The symphony also has discounted tickets for students,
please contact me if you would like more information.
