In Iran, NOROOZ is celebrated by cleaning the home, gathering with family and friends, making peace in relationships, and starting fresh with music and dancing. Please join us for this special evening in honor of our human connections and the joy of spring renewal.

Guest artists:

Babak Salehi, Kamanche, Setar, Vocal (www.shabava.com)

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Kamand is Seattle's only traditional Persian music ensemble. Their repertoire ranges from regional folk music to classical compositions. Since 2003, Kamand has been invited to contribute their music to diverse community events, including the Northwest Folklife Festival, the Portland Iranian Festival, numerous benefits, and the Folklife in the Schools K-12 educational program. Kamand dedicates every performance to increasing multicultural awareness and building relationships of respect and appreciation within the community. You can visit www.kamand.org for more information.

Pangeo is a four-member group based in Seattle, drawn together by a passion for Greek music and music of the Balkans. With a taste for old-style dance music, they are equally at home playing ballads from the mountains of Epiros in Greece, or lively tunes from the Bulgarian, Yugoslavian and Albanian border area. You can visit www.kyklosmusic.com for more information.
