For our next Zanan gathering, I am very pleased to announce Dr Nahid Angha, the founder of the International Sufi Women Organization has kindly accepted my invitation. Dr Angha holds doctorate degree in Islamic Studies as well as in Psychology: Human Behavior, she is Co-Director of the International Association of Sufism (IAS), the Executive Editor of the quarterly journal, Sufism: An Inquiry, and the main representative of the IAS to the United Nations (NGO/DPI), and Marin Women's Hall of Fame Inductee, and her dedication to international peace has earned the IAS the UNESCO "Messenger of Manifesto 2000" award.
An internationally published author, featured in media and publication including White Fire: A Portrait of Women Spiritual Leaders in America and Women in Sufism: A Hidden Treasure, she is one of the major Muslim scholars of the present time with over fourteen published works.
Her dedication to peace has led her to serve as in various leadership roles in large-scale international interfaith organizations. Dr. Angha has given lectures and taught classes nationally as well as internationally, and created a cooperative educational partnership with the Dominican University of California through Building Bridges of Understanding Conference and Lecture Series that has featured prominent leaders.
