From the dawn of human civilization numerous types and forms of organizations and governments have been tried, but none have been successful in bringing peace and tranquility to the world. Peace and harmony, Professor Naini maintains, is more dependent on each individual and his/her state of mind and attitude toward himself and others than any particular system. A necessary precondition to attaining a peaceful and harmonious world is recognizing and understanding the reality and purpose of the human life journey. At Rumi’s grand funeral procession Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Sufis cried and mourned in a manner that one would have thought that Rumi belonged to each one of them.

Dr. Naini will discuss Rumi’s life and teachings on universal peace and harmony and the human endeavor. Rumi, a dedicated theologian, became a liberated, euphoric mystic poet who fervently fell in love with the Divine Creator and the whole universe. Rumi, the best selling poet in the U.S. today, teaches us to appreciate the majestic journey of life.

Professor Naini is a world traveler who has lived and taught in four continents. For most of the past 24 years he has been a professor, program director, laboratory director, department chair, and college dean at several major universities throughout the world, including Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Cairo, Colorado, and Florida. Professor Naini is one of the foremost scholars of Rumi, the 13th century Sufi mystic, who is the best selling poet in the U.S. today. He has been featured in numerous U.S. and international websites, newspapers, and TV and radio shows. He also is the main speaker and consultant for a new PBS program, “Iran: A Celebration of Art and Culture,” and an upcoming film about Rumi. His latest book is Mysteries of the Universe and Rumi’s Discoveries on the Majestic Path of Love. Dr. Naini’s electrifying and mesmerizing rendition of Rumi’s poetry resonates within all who seek love, peace, and knowledge.
