About the Speaker:
Siamak Namazi is the Managing Director Atieh Bahar Consulting. He is also Editor of Iran Energy Focus and a frequent contributor to a variety of publications
that deal with Iran and the Caspian area. These include chapters on: "The Caspian’s Environmental Woes" in The Caspian: A New Frontier for Energy & Development (St. Martin’s Press); and co-authoring the section dealing with
Iran in the Encyclopedia of World Political Parties and Systems. Mr. Namazi came to Atieh Bahar after several years with one of the leading Competitive Intelligence firms based out of the US. He has worked or studied in the United
States, Iran, Egypt and Kenya. He holds a BA in International Relations from Tufts University and an MS in Planning from Rutgers University, where he studied under a Russell Fellowship. Furthermore, Mr. Namazi served a stint as a visiting scholar in the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC.
About the Iranian Studies Group at MIT
The Iranian Studies Group at MIT (ISG) is a non-partisan, non-profit, academic organization with the aim of promoting Iranian civil society through conducting research on issues related to Iranian native and expatriate societies. Our
research projects focus on the cultural, social, economic, and political development of the Iranian society. By actively publicizing our findings in a format that is accessible for the community at large, we aim to bridge the gap between research, public knowledge, and policy-making.
ISG promotes an analytical approach to long-term issues that are important to Iranians worldwide, from an independent Iranian perspective, and within a
democratic spirit. ISG aims at creating a dynamic network of academics, community leaders and interested individuals working on an analytical understanding of contemporary Iranian issues, regardless of their social,
political or religious beliefs. To accomplish these goals, ISG is committed to presenting the public with diverse perspectives on issues related to its mission through research projects, lecture series and article publications
