The Roundtable Dialogue on "Balancing Educating the Mind with Educating the Heart" will be held on April 20, 2004 at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC, simulcast at SFU's Morris J. Wosk Center for Dialogue. The Roundtable Dialogue provides an opportunity for community contemplation of His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama's message of compassion and understanding in the context of current policy challenges in such areas as community building and sustainable development. The Dalai Lama's message has contributed many wonderful and important insights to discourses on education, particularly in the area of emotional intelligence and the need to nurture young learners with ideals of community, empathy, and cooperation. Roundtable Speakers have already engaged in exchanges with His Holiness on the various facets of this theme. The occasion will be the first opportunity for Vancouver to experience the depth of wisdom that these world visionaries bring to deliberations of how we might approach some of the complex questions of our times.
