Kamran Modirian was born in 1963 in Tehran and began
to play Tombak at an early age. In 1981 he began
studies with his principal teacher, Amir Naser Efetah,
with whom he worked for several years. Later on he
became engaged with many ensembles in Iran, as well as
in the United States. He has performed in the prestigious
Roodaki Hall in Iran; a CD of that performance entitled
"From North to South" has been issued by the Fourosh
company. He has also appeared at Vahdat Hall, Tehran
University, Bahman Cultural Center, and at the University
of California San Francisco, where he performed with
Maestro Mahmood Zolfonun. Mr. Modirian can also be heard
in two works by the Conservatory's own Pedram Falsafi
on the Falsafi brothers' recent CD (recorded in Hellman Hall),
"From Iran to Argentina".
